After a lifetime of hiding her drinks, a “pro alcoholic“ goes sober
Early in my first attempt at sobriety, I heard another new member ask, plaintively, “What now?” He’d been talking about his former life’s work: “I was a professional alcoholic,” he said, “In the alkie business. Started as a hobby — evenings and weekends — then I decided to go pro and it took up my entire life.”
