When I came to AA, I was on the brink of losing my job, my marriage, my health and my life. I was 27 years old and alcohol was the prime motivation in my life. I was married with four small children and I was unable to be a decent father, husband, employee, son, brother or friend. I was a liar, a cheat and thief, I had been hospitalized with acute alcoholism, malnutrition and dehydration, and yet I could not believe that my problem was alcohol. I thought I could stop whenever I wanted to but had the right to drink like other people. How dare people say that alcohol was causing many of the problems in my life?
