Finally awakened from an induced coma, he felt the first faint presence of his Higher Power

On December 27, 2012, my ex-wife and her husband took me to the emergency room. I was yellow from a failing liver, my pancreas was in trouble, and my respiratory system was failing. My voice had changed because of the fluid build-up in my upper chest. Of course, I didn't think I needed to go to the hospital. My teenage daughter was freaking out, so she called her mom and they took me to the emergency room where, as Bill W put it, “I was separated from alcohol for the last time.”
