Parked in the Right Spot

I’ve always believed in God, but for most of my life, I wasn’t “engaged” in an active relationship with Him.  I simply made “foxhole” requests in order to get out of trouble. However, my mind and spirit were rudely awakened when I found myself in jail at the age of 41. Lying on the concrete bed, I began praying.  This time, I was making a real deal with God—that if He got me out of trouble, I would for sure stop drinking.  I was out of jail within a few hours.  That was my first spiritual awakening, even though I wasn’t quite “aware” that my prayer had been answered.
