A Bridging the Gap committee in an all-online district pioneers new ways to connect newcomers as soon as they leave treatment

My online AA journey began when I was just 14 days sober. After surviving a life-saving emergency surgery that was directly related to my alcoholism, I was immobilized for eight weeks. I sat on my couch feeling sorry for myself. I searched: “Are there AA meetings online?” and discovered a wealth of online meetings. I was able to attend meetings around the clock and I stayed sober doing so—from my couch. What began as only a supplement to in-person meetings—because I was physically unable to attend them—has now become an essential part of my recovery.
