A newly sober mom, aching to get her boys back, finds love and acceptance on the tough road back to sobriety

I tiptoed into the rooms of AA in January 2020, and to say my life was unmanageable is a major understatement. I was three and a half weeks sober, and my oldest son was 19 and living with his dad. My two younger boys were in foster care, and I was attending extensive outpatient treatment three days a week after work at a job I had just started a month and a half before I got sober. I rode the bus most places and scheduled visits with my boys twice a week. I started attending AA meetings because they told me it was a required part of my treatment. I was desperate and willing to do anything I could to stay sober and get my boys back home.
