She made several moves, but never left AA behind

I had a solid foundation for my first six years of sobriety with a fabulous sponsor, women’s home group, experience with sponsorship and service positions. But suddenly, my life took a major change. My marriage ended and my mom’s health became a concern. I made a life changing decision and decided to move from Oregon (after 30 years) to Colorado. After battling the legal consequences of a failed relationship, I chaired the women’s meeting and, between tears, celebrated my sixth AA birthday the day my divorce became final. I left my grown and married daughter, son-in-law and sober girlfriends, quit my two jobs, and headed to Colorado to take care of my mom. She was 92 and had been very independent for the 21 years after my father passed.
