Home Group Trials and Triumphs

When one door closes, another one opens—although not without a boost from an energetic member

In April 2020, as the COVID pandemic hit hard, our homegroup folded. This group had been in existence for 74 years. Such things happen, I guess. My husband, who is also one of us and has been around the rooms quite a bit longer than myself, has assured me that groups split and end quite frequently, but the program of Alcoholics Anonymous remains strong. He and I scrambled to find another location to have meetings on the days our homegroup met. It turned out to be a much easier task than I had anticipated. I phoned a church that accommodated other meetings on different days and times and was told it wouldn’t be a problem. We started a meeting on the days our previous homegroup had been held, but at an earlier time. It was slow-going at first, but our new homegroup has taken off.
