Drunk in a lonely hotel room in 1967, he had a miraculous moment he hopes to never forget

During my 53 years as a sober member of AA, I have said “I’m an alcoholic” thousands of times in meetings. But today those words have much more meaning to me than they did the first time I spoke them so many years ago. I accepted the fact that I was powerless over alcohol at age 27, but I had difficulty understanding powerlessness over all the other aspects of my life.
