Heartbreak

Within months of each other, both Mike’s wife and my husband died. The four of us were friends and neighbors since the 1970s. Mike and I were naturally drawn to each other in our mutual grieving, and it evolved into an eight-year intimate relationship. Mike was adamant about no further commitments, and neither of us saw marriage in our future. For those eight years we enjoyed a close and caring relationship. Together we could be ourselves, at times silly or cuddly. We provided comfort for one another.
