Hanging with my Gang

Boy was he glad when a posse of young people showed up at his meeting.
Together they learned how to have fun without drinking

In January of 1973, I walked through the door of an AA beginners’ meeting at the Calvary Episcopal Church in Manhattan. There I found a mixture of a dozen or so older people, former barflies like me, sitting in brown metal chairs around a long table. The meeting was much different than I had expected.
