Good Times at Washington Square

At 62 she stumbled into a lunch meeting in New York City and had no idea how much her life would change

I knew I had to do something. I was miserable, hopeless, totally lost. I was 62, unemployed, seeing a therapist and drinking in the morning until I passed out around noon. My therapist kept pushing the program. She said, “You don’t have to be sober to go to a meeting.” That gave me license to drink afterward, so I finally agreed to go to accommodate her.
