Going Out With Style

Coming into the program of Alcoholics Anonymous as a senior citizen has its own set of challenges and rewards. When I finally did seek help for the disease that had plagued me for decades I was tired—tired of trying to balance moments of sanity with hours and days of insanity, tired of trying to figure out which convenience store was next in the rotation to get my vodka, tired pretending I wasn’t home when a neighbor knocked or when my children phoned.
