A Fuller Understanding, Sober
I remember being a kid and feeling out of place, different, confused and lost in a world where everyone seemed to have a place but me, where everyone understood how to live and what to do with themselves. Although I hadn’t yet taken a drink, I now know that many alcoholics feel this way. I began doing whatever I could to repress that “weird” kid and to fit in as best I could. I busied myself with constant distractions as a way to numb and cope, which kept me from experiencing life to the fullest.
