An Experience You Must Not Miss

A longtimer in Canada shares his love for helping members behind the walls. To him, it’s a joy like no other

I began my AA corrections journey inside Dorchester Minimum Prison in the fall of 2000 after asking a man to sponsor me. I had a little over a year of sobriety at the time. Turns out my sponsor was the warden! My first introduction there was a program known as a Bridges session, where we AA members went into designated dry houses once a week to spend a few hours around a kitchen table drinking coffee with homemade cookies and casually discussing Steps One, Two and Three. My life has never been quite the same since.
