An Evolving Desire

He wasn’t ready to stop drinking at first, but as he hung around and listened, things changed

I did not have a desire to stop drinking when I first arrived at AA. I had fully accepted the fact that I would die drunk one day, but I was not ready to do so, at least not yet. Maybe, after all my children had graduated from high school, then it might be all right to die drunk. After all, I was sure I was not an alcoholic. I was just a problem drinker.
