A Changing Concept of God

God and healing in sobriety

As my disease of alcoholism developed, my concept of God also changed. Today with 41 years of sobriety I am grateful to the God of my understanding. Prior to my years of drinking my concept of God was Grant Our Desires, but once I started drinking, I thought I was God and made God in my own image, having become a Grandiose Obnoxious Drunk. Shortly afterward, there was a period of spiritual bankruptcy in which I entered the Gift Of Desperation phase which shifted toward the Gift of Desire.
