Need for recognition drove his drinking, but in AA he found anonymity was a way to become right-sized
My craving for fame started maybe by the third grade. That’s when I remember taking up a whole piece of paper with my autograph. I then gave the autograph to Jocelyn, who was in the fifth grade. She seemed more puzzled by my gift than impressed.
