Afraid and confused, this newcomer didn’t want what we have at first. But luckily, she stuck with it
When I first walked into the rooms of AA, I came with a tough girl attitude. I didn’t want anyone to get close to me. I was afraid if you really knew me you wouldn’t want me around, and I wasn’t up for any more rejection. If you knew I was afraid, if you found out how vulnerable I truly was, you would use it against me and hurt me. My past had taken me to some ugly places. I had major trust issues.
